Bad heredity is the only thing everyone is afraid of (especially people, who want to adopt the child). This fear is inherent to all parents. However, this fear is not without grounds. You will never know which traits of character or appearance your child will have. There is still the unexplored question: why some people are more gifted than others or why some of them choose the artistic professions or perform in front of people, while other work on the factory. It turns out that genes is the gift for our further life. What will we do with this gift depends entirely on us. For example, the color of hair depends on the gene, but it is up to the person to take care of it or leave it as it is. The same situation is with the height. It also comes hereditary; however, if the child eats poorly, he will not grow, as it was determined. Now let us have a look at the most common traits that we get hereditary. This is a good topic for an essay if you have an academic assignment to write on Biology.

Types of Temperament

The character is a genetically set nervous system. It is useless to fight it, because too active and aggressive child will never become calm. In addition, the cheerful baby will not be able to play and be on friendly terms with a constantly crying one. You cannot choose the character – you get it at conception. All types of temper are purposeful, and help us to achieve something in the life. Temperament depends on the characteristics of the nervous system that we inherit. That is why genes determine temperament.

You may have heard about the dynasties of monarchs or doctors, military men or sportsmen. Dynasty is especially common in the art. This may be the influence of education or nepotism, but success in this sphere also happens due to the temperament and the talents, which are hereditary. Genes are very important if we talk about any creative profession. It can be assumed that the influence of genetics can be applied not only in the field of pure creativity, but also in some personal characteristics that are necessary for creativity – such as determination and confidence. In the end, to do creative work professionally, you need luck and coincidence, but to be the truly creative person you have to make it a priority.

Today we know that many parameters of the brain are inherited. It is not the result of the influence of the external environment. The IQ level does not depend on the size of the brain, but is considered as the hereditary parameter by 50%. Unfortunately, the mechanism of inheritance of the high IQ level is a too complicated sphere of exploration. Researchers only noticed long ago, that boys suffer from mental retardation more often than girls do. This is because men have only one IQ X-chromosome, while women have two of them.

Pathological laziness is considered to be the result of bad parenting. However, the experiment of scientists from the University of California showed that the unwillingness to work is predetermined by nature. During the laboratory studies on mice, researchers have found that activity or laziness is transmitted genetically.

Desire to Travel

Surely, you have noticed that some people are hard to budge, while it is almost impossible for others to stop traveling. Scientists have found that the desire to travel may be conditioned due to the DRD4-7r gene. It is called “the traveling gene” because it is associated with such traits of character as curiosity and restlessness. By the way, this gene is more commonly found among the people, whose ancestors preferred distant and long migrations.

Genes also determine the features of human behavior in the intimate life. The weak libido is not always the result of hormonal disturbance or psychological problems. Scientists from the University of Jerusalem concluded that the level of sexual desire is associated with a variety of D4 gene.

Almost all adoptive parents have a fear that their foster child was born by the alcohol-addicted parents, and it will be the same. It is confirmed, that these children have a higher addiction to drinking than another do. Nevertheless, not all of them become alcoholics. In fact, people start drinking not because of the heredity, but because they feel lonely, are constantly bored and do not know what to do.

None of the above facts is a reason to justify your actions due to the hereditary factor. It is difficult to argue that self-education, surrounding and self-development have a significant influence on behavior and people’s preferences.
